King of Aged Competition Oolong

This tea has been stored for more than 30 years; it is an old tea passed down by our grandfather's generation. Additionally, it was honored with an award for aged competition tea that was held in one of the homes of Taiwanese oolong tea, Songboling.

In the early stages of tea production here, tea was made without rolling machines.  Instead, the farmer would use their hands or knees to help form the semi-circle shape that Taiwanese oolong would eventually become famous for.  This handmade process resulted in tea with the shape of loose curls, or as it is sometimes known, the dried shrimp shape.  All aged tea from our grandparents generation will have this distinctive shape.  The color of the dry leaves is mostly dark brown with spots of dark green.  The stems have turned the color of red bronze because of the extended ageing process this tea has gone through.  The aroma is mellow.  Notes of aromatic wood, gently pickled plums, and medicinal herbs are present.  When you drink it, you will have an immediate smooth sensation in the throat and body.  It is gentle and comforting at the same time.
